2019 Tulip Celebration Planned

It’s all about the tulips and blooms at our Lowell Connector Branch on Thursday, May 9 as the branch hosts a Tulip Celebration. The garden, originally designed in 2017, is expected to display a variety of brilliant tulips.

The Tulip Celebration will include the unveiling of a new plaque and dedication of the sculpture “Nordic Bloom.” The large floral sculpture was installed in the garden in July 2018 directly under the sign declaring “Lowell – The Flowering City.” The sculpture was commissioned by George Duncan, founder of Enterprise Bank and supporter of local artists, and created by Patrick Pierce, an artist formerly based in Lowell who is known for his works created from repurposed, cast off industrial metal parts.

Other activities scheduled throughout the day include a talk about the Dutch Tulip Mania with insights by Frans Janssen, a former resident of The Netherlands; free face painting for children; a tulip themed selfie station; and a floral-themed art exhibit featuring photography by Enterprise Bankers Brenda McDougald and Tammy Dohner. A variety of refreshments will be available inside the branch throughout the day.

Visit the Lowell Connector Branch from 9am-5pm to view the garden and join in the festivities. We invite you to visit our Facebook Tulip Celebration event page for updates and the day’s full schedule.
